The program will emphasize the life and influence of John Philip Sousa, “The March King,” on the American Band movement. Participating bands will have the opportunity to visit important Sousa sites in Washington, D.C., including his tombstone at Historic Congressional Cemetery, where he was laid to rest, and participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the site.

Each band will also take part in a clinic the day before the concert with Col. Arnald D. Gabriel, former Commander/Conductor of the United States Air Force Band and decorated veteran of World War II.
